Launch of the Acts of Kindness Initiative
Croda International Plc, who use smart science to create, make and sell speciality chemicals that improve lives, have today launched their Acts of Kindness initiative in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Acts of Kindness is an initiative that sees Croda committing to making up to £200,000 available to support communities close to their manufacturing sites during the Covid-19 outbreak. It will enable each site to tailor support to meet local needs, such as providing food and hygiene products as well as giving support to hospitals, care homes and community groups where needed.
This commitment of support to local communities is in addition to recent gifts from Croda of PPE to hospitals, health authorities and care homes as well as food and hygiene boxes to local residents.
As well as providing local support, the company has gifted vaccine adjuvants to Covid-19 vaccine development projects across the world, sharing their smart science with academics working on the vaccines. Croda also recently gifted excipients to projects working on trial medication for the virus. Supporting employees during the pandemic is a priority for the company, who last week assured all employees that there are currently no plans to reduce employee numbers or reduce regular salary and benefits as a result of Covid-19.
Steve Foots, CEO Croda said: “Croda, and our employees around the world, are keen to ensure we are doing as much as we can to support each other and our local communities during the Covid-19 outbreak. We hope Acts of Kindness will provide much needed help and support to our local communities at this time.
“This initiative truly reflects our values of being a responsible member of the communities in which we operate as well as acting together, as one Croda family. We recognise that Croda has much to offer and to be grateful for at this difficult time, and we see this as opportunity to give something back.”
Croda’s ingredients are used in thousands of end products, including items such as sanitisers and disinfectants, medicines, medical equipment, protective medical products, facemasks and items used in the making of Covid-19 testing kits.
